Guinguette: the anti-raindance

If you feel like going out of Paris in between the rainy spells, then why not go for a nostalgic trip to a Guinguette. Just 16 km south of Paris you can dance at the Seine riverside to the tunes of accordion music, enjoy a slice or two of the Auvergnate cuisine. So typical Parisian and yet a different world that is was almost forgotten until it was rediscovered as something hot and trendy. Maybe all the dancing and good food can not make the rain go away. But it will guaranteed get your spirits up and get you in shape for your summer slimsuit!
Every sunday in June: déjeuner Dansant with Guy Letur
La Guinguette Auvergnate
19 av de Choicy
94190 Villeneuve St Georges
How to get there:
by RER: Ligne D stop Villeneuve Triage
By bus: Take the bus 182 at the Porte de Choisy and stop at the terminus : Gare de Triage.

Tokio Hotel chez des Princes

They're back on tour and if everything goes/stays okay with Bill's voice then Tokio Hotel will be on stage June 21 not at Palais Omnisport de Paris Bercy but Le Parc des Princes. Pleasing the girlie crowd with an average age of almost 14. The adults in the crowd are there to escort their kids and they look all very awkward, standing in line for the concert. But you don't have to: The band is cute and you'll have a good time! Besides you'll be the coolest parent which can last up for about 2 days.
Don't forget to bring ear-protection though, not because the sound engineer did a bad job but because of the high pitch screams of the girls. The slightest move on the dark stage of a technician makes them go wild and that's way before the band starts.
here's the video to illustrate the point:

St Patrick's Day Party in Paris

The party may not be as big and wild as in the Anglophone world, but there's still enough to do to make a (would be) Irish heart beat faster.
Just around the corner from the freshly opened Le Quartier Bercy Square Hotel, at the Palais Omnisport Paris Bercy is the yearly event La Nuit de la St Patrick, music and dance from the Celtic world, March 15.
If you missed out on that one there's always the Irish Cultural Centre with a St Patrick's Day Concert of traditional music performed by Mary Shannon and Friends on March 17 at 19h30

Christophe Mae rocks!
At the NRJ Music Awards (kind French of MTV Music Awards) this singer won the “Best song” and “Best Male Singer”.
A real sportsman, unfortunately at 16 years old he got a "serious illness" which compelled him to stay in bed. From that point, his passion for Stevie wonder started. He decided to devote himself to vocals and harmonica.
On reaching adulthood, he started to sings on stages of France.
During a performance Dove Attia noticed him and recommended him for the cast of "Le Roi Soleil", a musical comedy, in which he was "Monsieur", the brother of the King.
In early 2007, he was nominated at the NRJ Music Awards for "Best New French-speaking artist".
And you know the rest...

To follow-up with our "We make you discover the French singers ", we already presented Christophe Mae and the duo Justice, now it's the turn of CALI! We chose this artist for several reasons: he has just released a new album and we love him. Not enough? Then read on!
Cali, whose real name Caliciuri Bruno, was born June 28, 1968 at Vernet-les-Bains, near Perpignan. He is a singer-songwriter. His roots are Italian, but also Spanish, French, Belgian. Fan of Anglo-Saxon rock and French songs, he also spent 17 years of his life playing rugby.
In July 2002, after a concert in Vieilles Charrues, he is noticed by the record labels who hired. It comes up at the end of August 2003 "L'Amour Parfait." This album was a huge success which ranks it among the leading singers. With songs such as "C'est quand le bonheur?", "Elle m'a dit," "Pensons à l'avenir" ...
On stage, he performs in front of thousand and thousand people. He accompanis himself with a guitar on many tracks and ends his concerts regularly with diving into the public and allowing himself to be carried away by thousand of people.

Tango in Paris
France first discovered the lush sounds, sensual moves and emotion-charged impact of the tango in 1906 and instantly took to the dance...
One hundred years later, the French are still tango-crazy. The Paris Banlieues Tango Festival has focused for the past decade on unveiling the multiple facets of tango, its international influences and current trends and inspiration to audiences composed of tango aficionados as well as the merely curious. The multi-disciplinary festival will be celebrating its tenth anniversary in style with a comprehensive programme of events. Concerts, dances, dance and singing workshops, exhibitions, readings and food fiestas attended by a number of guests from all over the world will be held in various locations in Paris and around over a two-month period. Isn’t it time for your first tango in Paris?
