Paris Fashion Week March 4-12

Those of you who want to know, are probably long time aware of these dates. So this is intended to inform the unaware and those who don't care.
It's almost Fashion week in Paris. The time of the year to forcefeed the public pictures and video footage of unhealthy and unhappily looking models sporting the latest creations of the creators.

Hopefully the creators decide for coming winter season 2009-2010 to let go of these low waste-line pants. They hardly look good on a skinny person with dangerously low BMI. Beside they are as uncomfortable to wear as they look really bad on 95% of the population.

Ready-to Wear Fall-Winter 2009 2010: March 4th to 12th, 2009
See here for the complete program: www.modeaparis.com

And let me ask just this one thing and then i'm done ranting: How come the mouthpieces of the kings and queens of style do not have stylish websites? Look at the above official website. It has not changed nor improved since a couple of fashion seasons! Then there are other search results on Paris Fashion Week that don't update, they're stuck in last seasons info. If we update our wardrobes with the frequency they update their websites... Luckily there are some exceptions such as our colleague blogger Kamel and his "Style and the City" blog.

Stella McCartney Store in Paris

Some days ago, near her colleague Marc Jacobs, Stella McCartney has opened a shop. At the same time as a new stand alone store in Tokyo. Parisians have to wait till january for the grand opening party during the Paris Couture week. But without more ado we can now go on a shopping spree like it's 1999 and buy everything with the name Stella McCartney on it from under-pants to organic make-up. All that and more in the stylish serene setting of the Palais Royal.

Sneakers in Paris

It is said that tourists should not wear sneakers in Paris as not to be so obviously tourists. But on what are you going to walk all these kilometers visiting the city? Even if you go by metro you still will be walking a lot. Better prepare yourself as if you'll be running the New York City Marathon. It's hard to enjoy the city with blisters from walking on your high heel fashionable shoes. You'll get in bad mood, won't enjoy that much and will get fuzzy with the few helpful Parisians.
Of course some very high profile places (nightclubs) won't let you in with sneakers unless it's a one of the exclusive pairs, you paid a small fortune for because some celeb has sport them before you.

Here's how you can wear sneakers in style and don't miss out on comfort:

Converse
100 years of history and still going stronger. The French love them, maybe because of May '68, who knows. You can get them in lots of places. It would make a real style statement if you have your own personalised pair.

Blog of the week: shoetube

It's not only, as the name suggest, a youtube kind of site for shoe lovers, but more a portal or dare i say a platform for shoes with attitude. Shoetube features own videos "daily shoe", and user-generated videos, there are blogs about shoes and forums. You can shop for shoes and donate shoes. Very funny and worth visiting even for those who don't care much about shoes. You can get information and tips about latest trends and how to combine the shoe with your outfit. So you can prepare your next shoe-shopping trip without the blisters!

Blog of the Week: Style and the City

Style and the City

La mode c'est pour les moutons alors qu'avoir du style, c'est avoir de la personalité
(fashion is for sheep, whereas style gives personality !)

Great slogan, and concept: a mix of fashion, media and ideas with a very personal touch. Some entrees come in English too.

Super slogan le concept est un mélange de fashion, média, idées pour une série télé qui donne un touche personnel ou mieux de la personnalité.

If you want your blog to be considered for "Blog of the Week", drop us mail and if you meet the jury's high standards, you'll be here next week!
